About our short-term mission programme
Crosslinks has over 100 partners all over the world. Their aim is to take God’s world to God’s world through ‘word based’ ministry in churches, Christian schools and theological colleges. The Crosslinks short-term mission programme operates by sending volunteers to carry out short-term placements with one of our long-term mission or project partners.
The aims of the programme are threefold:
- Service: each volunteer carries out useful work to benefit the long-term ministry or to serve the church overseas.
- Discipleship: each volunteer is discipled by other Christians, such as the long-term mission partners, team leaders or other local Christians. If available, they may be offered the opportunity to carry out theological study.
- Evangelism: each volunteer is given the opportunity to share the gospel and their faith with non-believers.
Our aim is to encourage long-term mission partners and the global church, and to strengthen partnerships between the UK and overseas churches through the sending of volunteers. The long-term vision of the short-term mission programme is to raise up and encourage a cohort of missionaries and mission-minded individuals who serve God’s church for his glory.

Kayley Shum (second from right) served as part of a gap year team placement alongside James and Lucy Buchanan at Hope Church Auckland Park.
Here’s what Kayley says about doing a Crosslinks gap year: ‘If you’re looking to grow as a Christian, you need to be thrown in the deep end. Being taken out of my comfort zone helped me develop a deeper relationship with Christ. Making friends for life and learning about other cultures has been humbling and faith-building.’
