Timmy is studying Spanish at Exeter University and will be spending seven months in San Sebastián, helping with the student ministry there.
In Spain, just 1% of the population are evangelical Christians. The large majority of people identify as Roman Catholic, however this tends to be a sense of cultural identity and belonging rather than personal belief in God. Among young people, more and more students are arriving at university without traditional Christian values.
Timmy will be working alongside Grupos Bíblicos Unidos (GBU), the IFES affiliated Christian student movement in Spain. He will be leading bible studies in small group and one-to-one settings, organising evangelistic events and encouraging Christian students. He will also join a local church, actively serving the congregation there.

I have now been based here in San Sebastián for over two months and there is plenty to update you with!
My role with the GBU ministry consists of bible studies, outreach events and meeting up one-to-one with a couple of the students. It is always encouraging to see students take on responsibility in leading bible studies, and we see around four to six students at each of the two bible studies on a Wednesday. I enjoy supporting them as they plan bible studies; I’m trying to encourage reflection on what the Holy Spirit is saying to us through each study and allowing ourselves to be transformed by his power.
