Like many countries in continental Europe, only 1% of the population of Belgium are Christians.
The country is linguistically divided, with the Flemish-speaking Flanders in the north and the French-speaking Wallonia in the south. Brussels, although officially bilingual, is majority French-speaking.
Robbie and Lizzie are working in Brussels amongst French-speakers seeking to share the gospel with unbelievers and build up believers in their faith.
Robbie is the assistant pastor at the Eglise Protestante Evangélique de Bruxelles-Woluwe (Woluwe Evangelical Church) in east Brussels, where he runs the student work. He also teaches one day a week at the Institut Biblique Belge (Belgian Bible Institute) training men and women for gospel ministry.
Lizzie is a full-time mum to Lola, Caleb and Mia and she helps out with the women's and children's work at the church.

“But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favour granted us in answer to the prayers of many.” 2 Corinthians 1:9-11
We quote these verses, not because we have suffered to the extent that Paul did, but because this passage shows how Paul gave thanks to God for the answered prayers of the Corinthians believers. We feel like these last few months, God has been teaching us not to rely on ourselves, but on him. We are so grateful to all of you who labour in prayer as well for us, so that the Gospel spreads here in Belgium. There have been numerous answers to prayer – here are the major ones with some points for prayer as well.
