Rob and Claire first considered moving to Italy after hearing a talk which encouraged them to see afresh God’s power to save and the urgency of reaching Europe with the gospel. They are now planning to move to Naples in September 2019.
For the first six months Rob will study Italian full-time, following which he will work in a language school. They both intend to participate fully in the life of Chiesa Evangelica Neapolis - an Italian-speaking local church, planted by Mark and Jane Oden in 2016.
In order to move to Italy in September, Rob and Claire need to build a partnership team who will pray for them whilst they are in Naples. They also need to raise financial support for their relocation costs and living expenses for the first six months.
Naples is an extremely densely populated port city of some 4.5 million people. Nominal Catholicism and superstition are both highly prevalent, meaning gospel work is urgently needed.
We’re so thankful for your prayers and support since we last wrote. It’s been a happy and full couple of months getting ready to leave and building partnerships.
Barney and Toby continue to grow and keep us busy – Toby is sitting up, getting his first teeth and just starting on solid food now – he’ll be gearing up for Neopolitan pizza soon!
We are visiting Naples 18-21 May to, amongst other things, look at accommodation and to introduce Barney to his new home! As we visit the city that will be our home, we are so encouraged by the teaching from Revelation on heaven we had on the St Ebbe’s weekend away recently. While we are sad to say goodbye to friends and our home in Oxford, we look forward to our real home, living with the Lord himself in his beautiful city. Give thanks with us that ‘no eye has seen… no ear has heard, and… no human mind has conceived — the things God has prepared for those who love him.’ (1 Cor 2:9).
