Julia is working alongside Joe and Rachel Clarke and their ministry with the Portuguese Christian Union movement (GBU).
Alongside studying Portuguese part-time, Julia is involved with planning GBU activities, looking out for female students and reading the Bible one-to-one with students and staff. Through this, Julia hopes to disciple students and encourage them in their evangelism.
Julia studied music at Cambridge where she was actively involved with both her church and the Christian Union. After she graduated, Julia served as a UCCF Relay Worker followed by two years as a ministry trainee at Grace Church Greenwich in south east London.
I hope you are all doing well! I’ve become aware of a couple of exciting changes in the recent weeks which I’m thrilled to share with you.
If you’re in a rush, suggested summary prayers are in bold.
We had the opportunity to have a one-day conference in person!
Firstly and most joyfully: a student has come to trust in the Lord Jesus! I had the privilege of video-calling her to catch up and find out how she’s been finding GBU (the Christian Union in Coimbra University, Portugal). She casually referred to ‘us’ Christians so I took the opportunity to ask her what she meant by that. It was so wonderful to see how she recognises Jesus as the only Saviour and how we need to live our lives trusting, loving and obeying him. She’s one of the most committed of our group, attending online even when she’s unable to speak (as her father is extremely hostile to Christian activities so she doesn’t speak when he is home). Lord of the harvest, we praise you for new life in this lovely girl and ask that you would sustain her faith as long as she lives. Please bring her family to faith too but, for as long as she experiences opposition at home, please strengthen her to continue knowing that it’s worth giving up anything to know you as her Saviour.
