Julia is working alongside Joe and Rachel Clarke and their ministry with the Portuguese national Christian Union movement (GBU).
For her first year in Portugal, Julia is taking Portuguese lessons and sharing the gospel with other international students. As her language improves, Julia hopes to disciple students and encourage them in their evangelism.
Julia studied Music at Cambridge where she was actively involved with both her church and the Christian Union. After she graduated, Julia served as a UCCF Relay Worker followed by two years as a ministry trainee at Grace Church Greenwich in south east London.
I am so grateful for the first few weeks in Coimbra, Portugal, with lots to give thanks for.
So many things were unknown when I arrived but my room is comfortable and in a lovely location. My 15 housemates are friendly, church has started well and I'm able to understand more Portuguese language than I expected. I expect there will be harder times ahead so I'm especially grateful for the positive start.
It was a 35-degree welcome to Portugal but thankfully it's cooled down significantly and we've even had plenty of reassuringly Britain-like drizzle. I am so thankful to be part of Joe and Rachel Clarke's team: for them personally and also that they have incorporated me into their network of friendships and trust that they've built with the Portuguese people over the last four years. This has enabled me to get going with ministry straight away and I already have friends here. Praise God for these gifts!
