February 2019

Thank you very much for your prayers; your support is so valuable! Please do keep in touch, I’d love to know how I can be praying for you!

‘For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Romans 8: 38-39

I was so encouraged reading these verses last week. Even though it’s been a year which has felt very hard and lonely at times, it is wonderful to know that God is always there and that nothing can separate us from his love.

A bit of a late update but I’ve now been in Bologna for seven weeks! It’s been a lot easier to settle here than it was in Spain and there really is a lot to be thanking God for. I’m serving at Forte Torre – an Italian-speaking evangelical church of about 70 people. It has been such a joy to get to know the church family, a mix of English and Italian speakers, and I’m deeply thankful for the way they have shown such love, patience and generosity as I’ve got used to a new place and a new culture.

Day to day ministry consists of admin, a weekly kids group, one-to-one discipleship, bible study groups and working on my Italian! I’ve also been given a lot of time for independent study of the Bible and for reading Christian books.

Give thanks for:

  • New friends and a new church family, and the love they’ve shown me.
  • The opportunity to be trained for ministry under the godly example of brothers and sisters here who are living incredibly faithful and prayerful lives.
  • The provision of a one-person flat for me to live in – it’s very close to church and has a beautiful sunny terrace!
  • The common graces God gives us - the beauty of creation, sunshine, good food, and relationships.

Please pray:

  • I’ve started to read the Bible one-to-one with two girls from church, studying John and Ruth. Please pray for wisdom and clarity in preparing studies and that we would all grow in knowledge and love of the Lord.
  • I’m hoping to start going to a class at the gym just round the corner with the aim of meeting some non-believers – please pray for opportunities!
  • Please pray in light of Philippians 1 that my ‘love would abound more and more with knowledge and all discernment… to the glory and praise of God.’
