For her university language year abroad, Joanna is spending September 2017-January 2018 at a university in Brussels and is joining in at Woluwe Church (alongside MPs Steve and Dawn Orange and Robbie and Lizzie Bellis).
From February-June she will be serving as a church apprentice on Le Stage 222 at Woluwe. As well as participating in the church student group, the Stage 222 programme involves helping with mums’ and toddlers’ groups, teaching Sunday school, leading a youth group, reading one-to-one with an older Christian and studying one day a week at the Belgian Bible Institute – all in French!

The first part of my year abroad is over! I’ve now finished exams and am heading home for a week to spend time with family and friends before heading back to Brussels to begin the internship at my church here.
Looking back on the past term I can safely say that I couldn’t have got through it in my own strength. I’ve had to rely fully on God to sustain me and trust that He was and always will be faithful even when things seem impossible. While there have been times I doubted I was in the right place or doing the right thing, I was reassured in knowing that God has put me in Brussels for a reason and He is definitely teaching me so much through my experiences here.
