James and Lou moved to Louvain-la-Neuve in the summer of 2019 to help start a church plant.
Louvain-la-Neuve is home to over 25,000 university students and has a growing working population, but there is currently no evangelical church. Few young people are being reached and trained for ministry.
James and Lou have been living in Belgium since 2015, during which time they studied at the Brussels Bible Institute and served French-speaking churches in Brussels and south Belgium. They now hope to put into practice the training they received as they reach and equip students in Louvain-la-Neuve.
James and Lou are planting the church alongside Robbie and Lizzie Bellis. James is overseeing the student work whilst Lou is supporting James, taking care of their three children and discipling women and children.

‘Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”’ James 4, 13-15
We hope this finds you well in heart. Greetings from the town of Louvain-la-Neuve (LLN) in Belgium. The past few weeks have been a timely lesson for us the Clark family in our fragility and boasting (as in the verses above) and that we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. What a time this has been for us all to remember that we are but mist, but the Lord Jesus is in complete control and is the only one who graciously gives hope beyond the grave.
