Jack served God whilst improving his language skills on his university language year abroad. Jack spent September 2018 – February 2019 in Leipzig, Germany and March – July 2019 in Brussels, Belgium.
In Leipzig, Jack served as a ministry apprentice at Leipzig English Church and got involved in the German speaking activities there. He studyied on the Moore College online course in German. He was also part of a home group and got involved with youth work, one-to-one discipleship and leading church services.
In Brussels Jack served as a church apprentice at Woluwe Church (alongside mission partners Steve and Dawn Orange and Robbie and Lizzie Bellis). Le Stage 222 apprenticeship programme involved participating in the church student group, helping with children’s groups, teaching Sunday school, leading a youth group, reading the Bible one-to-one and studying one day a week at the Brussels Bible Institute – all in French!
I have been in Brussels now for two months and have thoroughly enjoyed every day.
I have been kept busy with a variety of tasks. I am taking two modules at the Institut Biblique Belge: Biblical Theology, which is an in-depth analysis of the covenants in the Bible and God’s plan of salvation from Genesis to Revelation; and Reformation Theology, where we look at the main figures of the Reformation and the essential doctrines that were recovered. The lessons have been challenging theologically and a great opportunity to study the Bible in French.
