Esther is studying French and Philosophy at Nottingham University. She spent her language year abroad in Belgium, serving at the Protestant Evangelical Church of Woluwe in Brussels.
Esther took part in Sunday services and bible studies for students and young adults. She helped with youth and children’s work, the mums and toddlers’ group, admin and music. Esther also studied at the Belgian Bible Institute one day a week.
Last time I wrote, I asked you to pray for the work I was doing with the youth group. I would like to start by thanking you for your prayers and by praising and thanking God for answering our prayers. God enabled me to engage with the teenagers better and I began to enjoy working with them more as our team got used to working together.
Last photo in Brussels with Dawn Orange
I had decided to stay in Brussels when the coronavirus outbreak hit Europe, but then every country and city started going into lockdown and my housemate returned home to England. I thought it best to go home to my family, for what I thought would be a month at the most - how naïve I (and many of us) were! Most trains were cancelled but praise God that I was able to get one of the last trains back to London. It was a stressful 48-hours from deciding to go home to packing up and clearing out my accommodation and getting back home.
