‘Bringing the great news of Jesus to Wanstead’

The Vision: ‘Our vision is to glorify God by being a bible-centred, welcoming church family seeking to reach out with the gospel of Jesus in the Wanstead area.’ Wanstead is in East London.  Although relatively affluent financially it is a spiritually needy area of 25,000 people where less than 1% go to bible-centred churches. We are a group of Christians seeking to bring the good news of Jesus to Wanstead and the surrounding area.

What’s been happening: We had an encouraging Easter with non-Christian guests at both our services, and a good time in the warm sunshine on the High Street chatting to folks about the resurrection. It is encouraging to reflect that there are currently six 'fringe' people involved in regular bible studies. Grace Church Tots started the new term with encouraging numbers. We are planning a Lego morning on the back of Tots on the second May bank holiday. Our new elders met for the first time.

Giving Thanks

  • For Jesus Christ's death and resurrection which brings us eternal life!
  • For non-Christians hearing the gospel at Easter events.
  • For the 'fringe' involved in regular bible study.
  • For the new elders first meeting.
  • For all the continuing opportunities to encourage each other in God's word.

  • For conversions among our fringe.
  • For the Grace Church Tots Lego Morning (27 May).
  • For the next morning of our Door-to-Door visiting (18 May).
  • For more workers for the harvest field in Wanstead. That we would be wise in the way we act towards outsiders, making the most of every opportunity.
  • For ongoing discussions with other local churches to plant a church in Clayhall/Barkingside. We need to make key decisions about whether to go ahead or not in the next month or so. There is a special prayer meeting on 15 May.

  • Teaching: Sunday sermons in Jude, bible studies and Youth Group in John 1-4.
  • Personal and family devotions (a good number are doing a bible read through this year). Pray for perseverance and great encouragement.
  • That God would provide for our all our needs (financial and otherwise). We are currently predicting a £9K deficit this year.
