For her university language year abroad, Charmaine spent September 2018 – July 2019 in Brussels serving at Woluwe Church (alongside mission partners Steve and Dawn Orange and Robbie and Lizzie Bellis).
As well as serving the church with administration, Charmaine participated in the church student group, helping with children’s and youth groups, reading the Bible one-to-one and studying one day a week at the Brussels Bible Institute – all in French!
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ John 3:16
Having fun in the nursery at the holiday club
We welcomed 52 children into one of the local schools and put on a holiday club for them. It was the first time the church has done something like this; give thanks for all the children who came and the team that was so willing to serve and share Christ with them. The theme of the week was ‘A Tour of the World’ so we ‘visited’ a new continent each day. The verse of the week was John 3:16. Give thanks for a very catchy song written by a couple from the church which really helped the children learn the Bible verse. I was responsible for the ‘garderie’ (nursery) every morning for the leaders’ children who were too young to participate. I truly enjoyed playing in the park with the babies every day. In the afternoons, I helped with English classes; I even learnt a thing or two myself.
