Andy and Zsófi head up Acorn, which trains Hungarian leaders in bible-centred youth work.
Many Hungarian youth groups are run by godly volunteers who love young people but have no formal training. Others are run by pastors who have theological training but often find it hard to connect with young people. Andy and Zsófi's passion is to train these youth leaders to be better equipped at teaching God’s word to young people faithfully, relevantly and clearly. Their work is centred around the Acorn Bible Training course which takes a cohort of youth pastors and leaders through a one-year programme.
Andy and Zsófi have three children: David, Réka and Emily.

Acorn’s shortened name together with the new logo, webpage and training course all are part of rebranding the work in Hungary. The iconic British and Hungarian flags that have represented our work for more than fifteen years have now been changed to an acorn placed on a bible. The rebranding has finally caught up with our vision of training leaders in bible centred youth work.
Andy recently joined an online zoom youth group to give feedback to Peti, one of our current students who was teaching that evening. It was such a joy to see Peti faithfully and carefully handle the text, engage well with the teenagers, and give practical steps on what it means to put the passage into action the following week. It was a real reminder and encouragement to us that training leaders, whilst it is a small, slow and steady work, will have a huge impact on the lives of many young people in the decades to come.
