Philip is serving at Christ Church Roimata in Christchurch, where Christianne is working as a medical doctor.
New Zealand has a strong Christian heritage but is becoming increasingly secular. There is great need for the gospel and for Christian workers who can communicate this good news in the shifting cultural landscape.
Over the last five years, Philip has completed a master’s degree in Philosophy, served Theology students with UCCF, and worked in publishing as an editor. For the last two years, Philip and Christianne have been part of a new church plant in Glasgow where Philip has been involved in community research and leading bible studies.
Christ Church Roimata was planted in November 2018. At the church, Philip is involved in outreach and in training local Christians in apologetics, equipping them to answer difficult questions and break down intellectual barriers to faith in Jesus.
Christianne is working as a medical doctor. To supplement her income and to enable Philip to volunteer at Christ Church Roimata for a year, they need to raise £3,000. This includes Philip’s flights, visa, ministry conferences and insurance. Please consider supporting Philip and Christianne by using the giving box on this page.
I hope you’re all doing well with the current situation wherever you are. A lot has happened since my last update, so I’ll try to update you as best I can.
Like pretty much everyone else, we’ve been in lockdown now for a few weeks but we’re very thankful to God that New Zealand has done a relatively good job of containing the virus. As of 12 May we have less than 100 active cases and we seem to have a good grip on community spread. As a result, restrictions are gradually loosening here, with most businesses reopening on 14 May and schools reopening shortly afterwards. Domestic travel is now allowed as well, so we are hoping to get out of the city soon, which will be great after we had to cancel all our holiday plans for April.
