Rachel took a career break and spent January to March 2020 in Chiang Mai, where she taught English at The Centre.
The aim of The Centre is to share God’s love with students (most of whom are Buddhist) and establish good personal relationships through which they can share the good news of Jesus. More than 35,000 students attend the Chiang Mai universities and many need to learn English to further their opportunities in the working world. At The Centre, the students are taught in small groups and their teachers actively seek opportunities to share the gospel with them. The Centre hosts regular social events including bible story-telling evenings and cooking nights where someone shares their life-story (testimony).
Somehow, it is now nearly four weeks since I left Chiang Mai and I have been back in the UK for over two weeks. Many of you will be aware that I had planned to travel on to Japan and Australia but, as the coronavirus advanced, it became clear that I should come home and I’m very grateful to God that I was able both to complete my time in Chiang Mai and get a flight home when I did.
Looking back over my previous prayer letters now that I’m back in London, it is exciting to be reminded of how God answered my (and your!) prayers. Thank you again for praying.
