Rachel is taking a career break and spending a couple of months in Chiang Mai, where she is teaching English at The Centre.
The aim of The Centre is to share God’s love with students (most of whom are Buddhist) and establish good personal relationships through which they can share the good news of Jesus. More than 35,000 students attend the Chiang Mai universities and many need to learn English to further their opportunities in the working world. At The Centre, the students are taught in small groups and their teachers actively seek opportunities to share the gospel with them. The Centre hosts regular social events including bible story-telling evenings and cooking nights where someone shares their life-story (testimony).
Thank you so much for partnering with me in prayer as I head to Thailand for the next couple of months. Even though I'm only going to be serving with Crosslinks for a short time, I really value your prayers.
As you probably know, this trip is part of my ‘gap year’ as I take time to recover from a tough couple of years leading up to leaving my teaching job. I am excited to be able to use part of this time to serve God and the gospel in Thailand.
As the date of my departure approaches (Monday 6 January), I would value your prayers for the next few weeks in particular. I have never lived overseas and have never been engaged in full-time gospel ministry so there will be lots to adjust to and at this stage I still don’t really know what to expect.
