Rachel is taking a career break and spending a couple of months in Chiang Mai, where she is teaching English at The Centre.
The aim of The Centre is to share God’s love with students (most of whom are Buddhist) and establish good personal relationships through which they can share the good news of Jesus. More than 35,000 students attend the Chiang Mai universities and many need to learn English to further their opportunities in the working world. At The Centre, the students are taught in small groups and their teachers actively seek opportunities to share the gospel with them. The Centre hosts regular social events including bible story-telling evenings and cooking nights where someone shares their life-story (testimony).
Sawadee kah! Thank you so much for your prayers for me in these first few weeks in Chiang Mai.
In some ways I can’t believe that I’ve been here for three weeks already, in other ways it seems amazing that it has only been three weeks. In some ways I now feel reasonably settled, in others I am very aware of how little I really know and understand about life here. But two things that I am sure of are how grateful I am for the faithful prayer support of so many friends and how wonderful it is to know that God is totally sovereign over every detail of my life.
