‘In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.’ Exodus 15:13

At the end of June, Luke was back in Chile to teach a week-long intensive on the book of Exodus. It was so good to be back with the community at CEP and wonderful to be able to spend a week thinking together about the God who saves us and keeps us and guides us home to him. As we as a family come to a new stage of our life and ministry together, it is so precious to know that whatever else might change, the faithful love of God will always stay the same.

Some things change…
As we mentioned in our last prayer letter, we landed back from Chile in March and were based in and around Oxford until the start of start of July. In July we moved across to Beckenham in southeast London where we will now be based. We spent the heatwave of mid-July surrounded by boxes and camping out on the floor but things are now all unpacked and our house is beginning to feel like home.

From September, the focus of our ministry will begin to change as Luke takes up a part-time role at the Cornhill Training Course in central London. Over the next term, Luke will combine this new role with his ongoing responsibilities at CEP. Luke has one more trip to Chile planned for the end of November and then will finish at CEP at the end of the academic year in December.

Flying into Santiago in the winter

As we look ahead to the next few months, we would really value prayer for us as we settle into a new community and ministry. Please pray for us all as we get to know a new church family over the summer and especially for the kids as they begin at their new school in September. The kids have coped really well with all the moves and transitions of the last few months, and we pray that they might quickly feel at home as we step into this new stage. Please also pray that we might know how best to keep caring for the relationships that we have built up over the years in Chile.

We are so thankful to all of you for your prayer and encouragement over the years! We’ve loved being involved in the ministry of CEP and it has been such a joy to see what your partnership has made possible. So often ministry at CEP has felt like planting mustard seeds – spending time with individuals and groups of students over their years at CEP. But as we look back over these years, it is wonderful to see how those seeds have taken root and borne fruit in churches throughout Chile and beyond. Thank you so much for your part in this ministry!

Some things change…
While some things have changed, other things – for the moment at least! – are staying the same. Give thanks with us for a great trip back to Chile for Luke in June. It was something of a ‘bittersweet’ experience to be back with the people and places that we love so much, but it was wonderful to be able to be with the students and reflect together on the book of Exodus.

Back with the CEP students

Luke continues to be involved with the ministry at CEP week by week, and in November will travel back to Chile to teach an intensive week on the character and mission of the church. We would also value your ongoing prayer for the development of a new curriculum at CEP for the next year. It is such an important but complex process and we pray that the new curriculum would help new generations of Christian leaders to know Christ more deeply and to share the gospel more clearly.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers for Martha. She is doing well and will have another check-up in August as the team continue to work out the right levels for her medication. She will continue to have these check-ups every couple of months and it is a blessing to know that she has this supervision to hopefully catch things before they can cause any issues.

Amid the changes of this time, our prayer is that we would take this chance to more deeply know the truth that always stays the same – that in his unfailing love, our Lord Jesus will lead the people he has redeemed and that in his strength he will guide us to our true home in him.
