Diego Pacheco

Diego is a BEST study partner at the Centre for Pastoral Studies in Santiago.

Diego became a Christian as an adult, having been a strong atheist before then. He writes, 'I doubted everything, which led to me doubting my atheism. I had a Christian friend and, after a life-threatening incident, I decided to go to church with him to investigate Christianity.' He came to realise that his preconceptions about God were wrong – the God those around him knew wasn’t who he thought God was. After this realisation, Diego asked God to reveal himself to him and turned to follow Christ.

In 2013, Diego became a Ministry Apprentice at Iglesia Pablo Apostal, training under Rev. Daniel Kirk. Daniel writes, 'Diego is a committed Christian who seeks to follow Christ wholeheartedly. He has a passion for God’s word and is committed to making him know wherever he is. During his two years as an apprentice he has grown in many ways and it is great to see the fruit of the Holy Spirit in his life. Diego has the aptitude and skills to become a church planter. As well as having a great heart for evangelism, he has shown a desire to disciple and pastor people. He is committed to working with other Church leaders to see Christ glorified and the gospel proclaimed in Valparaíso.'

In Valparaíso, to the north west of Chile’s capital Santiago, there is great potential for increased evangelical witness in the city. To meet this goal, Iglesia Pablo Apostal, led by pastor Rev. Daniel Kirk, would like to plant a new church in Valparaíso, and have asked Diego Pacheco and his wife Sabrina to lead this move. At the Centre for Pastoral Studies, Diego hopes to build on his experience and extend his pastoral, teaching and evangelistic gifting. During his final year of study (2017), Diego will continue at CEP three days a week, but return to Valparaíso to resume ministry within the church and start gathering a team with which to plant a new church.

Diego is studying the three-year Bachelor of Theology and Christian ministry course at the Centre for Pastoral Studies. Diego needs £2,480 per academic year until the end of 2017 to complete his studies.
