Thulisile Soko

Thulisile is a BEST study partner studying an online course through Christian Counselling and Educational Foundation.

Thuli was brought up in a Christian home but only became a Christian herself when at university. She began attending regular bible studies and there learnt about grace and that salvation can’t be earnt through works. Since graduating, Thuli has worked in a number of ministry roles. In 2013, Thuli trained on the Ministry Training Course at Johannesburg Bible College and, in 2015, began working at Hope Church Auckland Park as a student and women’s worker.

James Buchanan, minister at Hope Church Auckland Park, writes, ‘Thuli is a gifted women’s worker with a passion to train up other women in ministry both in terms of bible exposition and biblical counselling. Johannesburg is a very broken place which leads to an incredible number of pastoral issues. Women in particular have had to face the brunt of alcoholism, rape and abuse. There is a great need in South Africa to train people up in biblical counselling – such that more and more people can speak Christ into these situations rather than worldly wisdom or religious rules. I am keen for Thuli to be trained in a useful manner for this work.’

Thulisile started the four-year online Foundations of Biblical Counselling Certificate course with the Christian Counselling and Educational Foundation in September 2016. She needs £370 per academic year until the end of July 2019 to complete her studies.
