Simon Peter Matovu

Simon is a BEST study partner at Uganda Christian University.

Simon was brought up in a Christian family but it was not until he was an adult that he began to trust in Christ personally. Simon began teaching in his church in 2008, whilst continuing with an industry job in order to earn enough to provide for his young family. From 2012 - 2013, Simon studied for a Certificate in Mission and Evangelism, following which he studied for a Diploma in Theology at Uganda Martyrs Seminary (UMS) until 2016. Since then, Simon has worked as a vicar in Mukono Diocese alongside Theological studies at Uganda Christian University (UCU).

Simon is currently pursuing Masters studies at UCU, which will enable him to teach Theology to other Uganda pastors. Mission partner Chris Howles – who lectures at UMS – writes, ‘From the first month Simon arrived to study at UMS we identified him as someone who, long-term, could be brought into UMS as a staff member. This month he has started teaching one course and is teaching with skill, knowledge and application. In all his studies Simon has performed outstandingly in terms of academics and personal development in godliness, character, ministerial skills and teaching ability.’

Simon is studying for a Masters in Theology at Uganda Christian University. Simon needs £950 per year (2019 and 2020) to complete his studies.
