Simon Mumbere Mastaki

Simon is a BEST study partner at Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi.

Simon is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he leads a church, lectures at a bible college and is director of a Christian radio station. To help him in all these roles, Simon is studying at AIU. Less than a quarter of pastors in Simon's denomination have had any formal theological education.

Ongoing violence in the DRC has resulted in widespread poverty and millions of people being displaced. Though his sending church hoped to financially support Simon's studies, funds became scarcer as rebel activity in his home town increased. A Crosslinks bursary to cover his tuition fees has enabled Simon to use remaining support from his church to pay for his living costs and enable his wife and son to join him in Nairobi.

Training

Simon is studying the two-year, Masters in Mission Studies course from January 2018 until December 2019.
