Sarah is serving in South Africa at Trinity Children’s Centre. Sarah is a qualified Integrative Arts Psychotherapist and is passionate about using her creativity to help other people.
Trinity Children’s Centre is a Christian school that reaches out to children in Mitchells Plain on the Cape Flats. Children here are extremely vulnerable to the physical and sexual violence, substance abuse, domestic conflict, poverty and inequality that surrounds them. The centre provides a space where children can hear the gospel, receive an education and grow in the love of God.
At Trinity Children's Centre, Sarah is helping children deal with trauma and sharing the good news of Christ with them. Sarah is using art and craft, music, drama, puppets and play therapy in her work with the children, and she plans to teach sewing to local women. She hopes that this might lead to the development of a clothing label that can generate funds for local gospel work.
Throughout lockdown, much of Sarah's work was put on hold. Instead, she produced daily puppet videos to help children deal with what was going on around them, and introduce them to Jesus. View Sarah's videos here.
In order to live and serve in Cape Town, Sarah needs to raise £20,000 per year. This covers flights, accommodation, food, local transport and insurance. It also includes membership fees and supervision necessary for Sarah to continue practising as a registered psychotherapist. Please consider supporting Sarah by using the giving box on this page.
We have now moved from stage 5 to stage 3 of lockdown. Exercise can now take place 6am-6pm and schools have begun to reopen. But gatherings are still not allowed so opportunities to meet up with people are very restricted. Some of the national parks have opened up so I have enjoyed some hikes up Table Mountain. Getting out into nature definitely helps me.
