Rick and Alanna have been in Nigeria as mission partners since July 2012.
Rick is lecturer and chaplain at Kagoro Theological Seminary, training pastors for local church ministry. Alanna’s focus is looking after and schooling their children and building relationships with staff and student families on campus
They have three children: Asha, Conor and Jack.

The Children’s Centre project is underway but there is still much to do. Rick’s teaching is going well, including an interesting class which includes discussion of witchcraft accusation. There are challenges ahead now that the kids are reaching secondary school age – a promising solution to these is the opportunity to continue our work in the ECWA seminary in Jos, the sister institution to ETSK.
After lots of delays – which is relatively normal for how things sometimes happen here, as there can be a range of hitches – the work on the Children’s Centre is underway. That is very good news! However it hasn’t gotten that far yet. They have demolished the old (rather derelict) building and begun work on the foundations for a new building. I’m hopeful (but far from certain) that the new building could be in a basic, useable state by the end of semester.
