We have now been living in Jos for 14 months and have settled in well, despite the various changes that COVID made to our plans. The kids are doing well. Asha is settled into a pattern where she is part-time at Hillcrest School and part-time doing homeschool. This will enable her to follow a UK-type curriculum and eventually do IGCSEs. It means she is also able to do voluntary work in a preschool one morning a week.
Conor and Jack are doing homeschool this year. This is a totally different experience to how it was in Kagoro, where we often had very limited internet access. This meant that we did get occasional bursts of good service and could make use of good school resources, but could never rely on being able to do so. In Jos we have been able to make use of excellent online resources, especially as so much was made available during the UK lockdowns. As well as school, the boys have been going to a hiphop dance class. We also have a couple of swimming pools nearby and have been able to fit swimming into our school week. There is even a new multiplex cinema (well, a ‘bi-plex’ at any rate) that has opened in Jos, which we have tried out a few times.
