‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’ John 1:28

Happy New Year! I hope this verse encourages and cheers your heart throughout the year, as it has mine. Praise the Lord for Jesus, the Lamb of God who has taken away the sin of the world through his death on the cross. ‘Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world’ – great news! Anybody who repents and believes in the Lord Jesus will be reconciled to God and have eternal life and never perish!

Dear partners, I am praying with you all at this time that our Lord will watch over you and keep you and your family safe, and help us to bring gospel hope to many, even in lockdown. In Ghana, there is no lockdown and we can attend church physically whilst observing safe distancing, wearing masks throughout the service, washing and sanitising our hands and having our temperature taken at our church. Different households can also meet.

Thank you so much for partnering with us in the gospel from 2014 when I arrived in Accra, Ghana until now and still sacrificially praying and supporting me so that I can be here to equip women, study the Bible with students and train children’s and youth leaders to handle God’s word correctly.

Relite Africa Ministry

We began the 2020/2021 Relite course in September 2020 on Zoom. Praise the Lord for the 43 students (20 women and 23 men) he has given us to equip this year. They are undergraduates, postgraduates, National Service Personal (graduates who serve the country for one year) and other workers. Our Zoom meetings have continued every Saturday from 4:30 – 7:30pm. We have been learning some key doctrines such as the authority of the Bible, God, Christ and the Trinity. We also did a study on the consequences of the fall and one on new birth. The students were also taught expository preaching by Rev Coomson and Mensah Ameyaw – how to correctly handle Scripture and apply it to their own lives before their hearers.

Normally in January we have a residential bible handling course for practical preaching and feedback. However, due to the current pandemic restrictions, not all of our students are on campus so the practical preaching sessions have been moved to April 2021, when all our students will be on campus. Currently only the final and first year students are on campus. The second and third year students will come in March 2021. The students are coming back in batches for safety reasons. Please pray for opportunities to help many to be clear on the gospel.

Legon Interdenominational Church

We are grateful to the Lord for the many first year students we are able to disciple during the week days. Many have confirmed they will come to bible study. Please pray that they will come, grow and love God and share him with others.

I am grateful for the many opportunities I have to serve at church and to do them well to the glory of the Lord. I am currently writing a bible study for our young adults fellowship (for those ages 25 – 35) for 19 February on John 1:1-18. I am also co-writing and co-leading youth bible studies. Please pray for wisdom and creativity to know how we can build and equip our students with the gospel on campus and off campus

May our Lord keep you and your family safe and looking to the Lord Jesus. Please do let me know how I can be praying for you. It would be a great encouragement to hear from you also.

With love in Christ,

Portia

Please pray to the Lord for:

  • The students to be understanding the things they are being taught and applying them to their lives.
  • The practical expository preaching practice in April, when all the Relite students will be on campus.
  • The young adults bible study on 19 February.
  • Me as I write and lead youth bible studies.
