Nick and Harriet moved to The Gambia in June 2018 to be involved with a small bible school - Servants of the Word (SOW).
Evangelical Christians make up less than 1% of the population of The Gambia and most Christian leaders have had no formal bible training. SOW was established in 2012 to train local gospel workers in preaching and bible-teaching ministries. However, more theologically educated teachers are needed to deliver the course and disciple the students.
Nick is teaching at SOW, as well as helping with the work of GAMFES (Gambian Fellowship of Evangelical Students) and the ministry of local churches. As well as caring for their three young children (Phoebe, Arthur and Olive), Harriet is using her experience as an English teacher to help those with poor literacy to access the course at SOW.

Happy New Year!
There were some wonderful highlights for us in the last few months of 2021…
Alongside these highlights, we are very grateful to God for a good first term with four lovely, humble, hungry students. We thought George should get a special mention. He is from the church at Kartong where Charles is a pastor. He applied to SOW having seen the difference the training at SOW made to Charles’s preaching. It is such an encouragement to us that the training here is making this kind of impact! It would be great to pray that George would be a faithful and encouraging co-worker for Charles in the ministry at Kartong. On a separate note, all the students this year have very low literacy levels. Harriet began some English lessons with them last term and this will increase over this term. Pray for them to improve rapidly so that they might better access the main course.
