Nick and Harriet moved to The Gambia in June 2018 to be involved with a small bible school - Servants of the Word (SOW).
Evangelical Christians make up less than 1% of the population of The Gambia and most Christian leaders have had no formal bible training. SOW was established in 2012 to train local gospel workers in preaching and bible-teaching ministries. However, more theologically educated teachers are needed to deliver the course and disciple the students.
Nick is teaching at SOW, as well as helping with the work of GAMFES (Gambian Fellowship of Evangelical Students) and the ministry of local churches. As well as caring for their two young children (Phoebe and Arthur), Harriet is using her experience as an English teacher to help those with poor literacy to access the course at SOW.

Much has changed since our last letter and there is lots to update you on.
We have been in Tubakuta for almost three months now. As you would expect, there have been highs and lows…
Harriet is starting to teach a few English lessons in two of the local schools, including Phoebe’s. The hope is that this will benefit the children and strengthen our relationship with the village as we show we want to serve them. We’re grateful to the Crosslinks gap year team who make this possible by sending two members to stay with us for 24-hours each week.
