Nick and Harriet Algeo

Nick and Harriet moved to The Gambia in June 2018 to be involved with a small bible school - Servants of the Word (SOW).
Evangelical Christians make up less than 1% of the population of The Gambia and most Christian leaders have had no formal bible training. SOW was established in 2012 to train local gospel workers in preaching and bible-teaching ministries. However, more theologically educated teachers are needed to deliver the course and disciple the students.
Nick is teaching at SOW, as well as helping with the work of GAMFES (Gambian Fellowship of Evangelical Students) and the ministry of local churches. As well as caring for their three young children (Phoebe, Arthur and Olive), Harriet is using her experience as an English teacher to help those with poor literacy to access the course at SOW.

Latest News from Nick and Harriet Algeo
Praise God for the safe arrival of Olive Lucy Algeo on 13 October! We are adjusting to life as five and enjoying the chaos of these early days. Phoebe and Arthur are delighted with their baby sister and have coped pretty well with less attention from us as we tend to Olive, alongside attempting to get the washing pile zero-ed (which it turns out is now a futile endeavour!) and keeping the house in some sort of order.
Speaking of house, we were so grateful for God’s provision of an empty rectory down the road from Harriet’s parents that we were able to rent from the church. We moved in five days before Olive was born and it was remarkably stress-less thanks to the body of Christ showing up to help in multiple ways. It has been such a blessing to have our own space at this time. Thank you for all your prayers – God answered them!
