Nerena is studying a three-year degree in Theology at George Whitefield College (GWC) in Cape Town.
Nerena’s love for South Africa grew from childhood when visiting her grandparents in Cape Town. It wasn’t until she’d become a Christian at university that God gave her the desire to be involved with teaching his word to others.
Having worked in Durban with students for 12 years, Nerena hopes that her studies at GWC will refresh and equip her for continued ministry among women and girls in the present and the future. Please pray for the ability to learn well. By remaining in South Africa, she hopes to continue learning cultural lessons and ways of loving others, African-style. Cape Town is very different from Durban so please pray for adjustments.

Hello from Durban!
I’ve just returned from a week away with the girls I work with on The Bible Talks staff. It was a fantastic way to end the year: time with ladies eager to know God more and to love others better. We visited an area none of them had been to so we enjoyed soaking up mountain air, exploring, and flinching at the lightning and thunder. One learnt to ride a bike too! We delegated cooking and washing up as people preferred – I think we washer-up-ers particularly enjoyed the meals! We had unrushed times in Habakkuk and learnt of his faith and joy in God’s mercy and faithfulness in the face of looming judgement and suffering. And, I hope, we strengthened our faith with some chapters from ‘How Long O Lord?’ (Don Carson). It was precious to pray together and laugh over crazy games as well!
