Laura is serving in Kampala, Uganda from January to May 2019, alongside Chris and Ros Howles at Ugandan Martyrs Seminary (UMS).
After graduating from university, Laura worked as a ministry trainee at her home church, Christ Church Harpenden. The role was varied and included administration, youth and children's work, giving talks and leading Sunday services. Laura also studied on the Cornhill Training Course and grew in her knowledge of the Bible and ability to teach it to others. Since then, Laura has worked as the youth worker at Christ Church Harpenden. She writes, 'In my church, there are lots of individuals and families involved in overseas mission work who, every now and then, return to inform the church about what they've been doing. This has inspired me to go and do likewise.'
Laura is using the skills that God has given her to teach the 350-strong Sunday school at UMS Church of Uganda, as well as helping Ros home-school Josh, Dan and Chloe. Laura is attending some lectures at UMS and getting alongside female students for one-to-one and small-group bible studies.

It is my third week here at UMS and it has been so mad adjusting to a very different culture!
I spent the first couple of weeks getting used to life out here and was living with the lovely Howles family. Last Saturday, I moved into a guest house and I am currently writing this prayer letter from there!
Student and staff lunch at UMS
This week, I started working. I attended lectures, meetings, student and staff dinners and bible studies. I also had my first Namagongo Sunday school experience last week.
