Gerard Jampies

Gerard is a BEST study partner at George Whitefield College, South Africa

Gerard was brought up in a Catholic home in Zimbabwe but turned to Christ as Saviour when he was a teenager.

When he finished school, Gerard moved to Cape Town, South Africa to study Sport Science. He joined The Message Church and, on completing a Diploma in Sports Management, began a ministry apprenticeship at the church. This confirmed to Gerard his desire to pursue full-time Christian ministry and so he began studying for an Honours Degree in Theology at George Whitefield College (GWC) in 2014. During this time, Gerard was heavily involved in the ministry of his church, co-ordinating the children’s ministry, leading a small group bible study, discipling other men, and leading and preaching in Sunday services. On completing his BTh(Hons) in 2017, Gerard was recommended for further study at GWC by his church pastor, Rev Paul Schoenfeld. Paul hopes that, at the end of his Master’s Course, Gerard will join the staff team at The Message Church as their student minister.

Gerard writes, 'My desire and passion is to make disciples of students on the university campus. This will be done through evangelistic outreaches, training students to disciple others, preaching in Sunday services and teaching God’s word in small groups. My studies at GWC will further sharpen and progress my ability to teach and preach God’s word in a coherent and relevant way.'

Gerard is studying for a Masters in Theology at George Whitefield College. He needs £1,700 until the end of 2019 to complete his studies.
