Why go on a Crosslinks gap year?

Rebecca Prior

In 2015, I joined eight other gap year students on a Crosslinks mission trip to The Gambia. We were based in local primary and secondary schools, helping out with the teaching.

Along with a fellow teammate, I set up a Christian Religious Education class for the Christian pupils to attend while the Islamic Studies lesson was running. A few of the children brought friends along to the classes and we went through a gospel outline to help them understand the gospel and how amazing Christ is. These lessons were the highlight of my week as I was able to share my passion for the gospel with children who truly thirsted for the good news.

On Sundays we attended a local church, where we met local Christians and had time in fellowship with them. We were also able to partner with the Gambian Fellowship of Evangelical Students and attend one of their student conferences.

I can honestly say that my trip to The Gambia was life changing. It awoke in me a desire to follow Christ with all I am, to pursue a deeper understanding of the Bible, and a passion to share all I have learned and continue to learn.
