Adam is serving in Johannesburg, South Africa as the youth worker at Hope Church Auckland Park.
Hope Church Auckland Park holds out the good news of the gospel to the diverse communities in the city. It is led by mission partners James and Lucy Buchanan and, though the church is growing fast, it is in great need of more workers.
After spending six months serving at Hope Church in 2016, Adam returned in Spring 2018 to serve as a ministry trainee. Adam has been studying part-time at Johannesburg Bible College and serving in different areas of church life including music, youth work and student ministry. Adam is passionate about developing the youth ministry and began his role as the youth worker at the end of 2019.
So much has happened over the past few months it’s hard to know where to start! But let me give you a brief highlights package and some key prayer points.
I think it’s fair to say that the biggest highlight has been getting engaged to the wonderful Nomfundo! I’m now engaged in both the traditional Zulu sense and in the western sense (with a ring). The process of getting engaged in her culture is a slightly more complicated step than many of you may be familiar with. I had to engage with the process of Lobola (you can read about it here).
