St Julian’s Expository Preaching and Discipleship Training Course was set up in order to train word workers in the Anglican Church in Kenya. It has just one goal: to faithfully and consistently train up existing word workers in expository preaching and discipleship within the local church. The courses will be made available to the clergy, lay readers and evangelists.
St Julian’s felt it was vital to return the Anglican Church to faithful preaching of God’s Word in line with 2 Timothy 2:2 (equipped to disciple others) and to train others to do the work of ministry according to Ephesians 4:12 (through expository preaching). This pioneering work will offer a light to the Anglican Church, which is under attack from the twin dangers of liberalism and the prosperity gospel and liberalism.
Training will be provided to both men and women through a regional network (e.g. the Coast, Rift Valley, Eastern, Western and Nayanza regions). Training will be carried out in person at the St. Julian’s Centre as well as virtually over Zoom. St Julian’s will also hold an annual discipleship and expository preaching conference as well as follow-up meetings at the centre to consolidate and extend the training.
