Zablon Kihara

Bachelors of Theology
Africa International University
2021 – 2024

Zablon grew up going to church and was baptised aged 12. From the outside, it looked like he was doing well but when he joined secondary school, things started to go wrong and Zablon became a drug addict. His addiction continued beyond school and into his working life.

One day in 2004, Zablon bumped into an old friend, with whom he used to take drugs. Keen to see if they could pick up their normal routine, Zablon was surprised when his friend began to preach the gospel to him instead. Zablon was struck by how Jesus had changed his friend’s life and had helped him end his drug addiction. After Zablon’s friend prayed for him, he decided that day to follow Jesus. Zablon says, ‘Praise be to God, in his great mercy I became a new creation.’

After studying at Pwani International Christian College, Zablon was ordained as a priest in 2014 and has not looked back since, ‘for God’s grace is sufficient and he who began a good work in me is with me helping me all the way.’
