Simon and Abigail Donohoe

Simon and Abigail are seeking to make disciple-making disciples of Christ in Ireland through planting, establishing and growing a new church in Cherrywood, Dublin.

The Republic of Ireland is a rapidly secularising post-Roman Catholic country with the lowest proportion of evangelical Christians in the English-speaking world (about 1% of the population).

Just one example of this is Cherrywood, a new, diverse and fast-growing residential area of South Dublin and the largest residential development in the history of the Irish state. Though it will be home to a population larger than most Irish towns, there has been no church of any denomination established in Cherrywood. It is an area where people are hungry for community, but have little or no experience of what it is like to be part of Christ’s new community, the church.

Simon and Abigail are working in partnership with a church in Dublin and a small team to plant, establish and grow a healthy local church committed to making, growing and training disciple-making disciples of Christ, primarily through reaching those with no church connection. Alongside this, Simon is involved in training a new generation of gospel workers for Ireland and equipping preachers to faithfully proclaim God’s word.
