About Monday
Monday gave his life to Christ after hearing the gospel faithfully preached in a Sunday sermon by Rev Friday Magaji in 2016. Exploring more of what it means to believe and trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins through baptism classes helped Monday grow in confidence and assurance in his faith. After his baptism, Monday started serving more intentionally in church, as he’d been convinced of the need to put his faith into practice.
However, Monday’s journey with the Lord has had its ups and downs, as well as triumphs and struggles. Attending Rick Creighton’s (Crosslinks mission partner) Spiritual Life course at ECWA seminary in Kagoro was a major turning point for Monday. He was confronted with both the seriousness of his sin, but also with the Spirit’s help to change old habits and live a life of glory to God.
Monday has now been called to Christian ministry as a pastor teacher but does not come from a wealthy family and so is seeking financial assistance to enable his training. Speaking about the church situation in his area, Monday writes ‘the church here has enjoyed God’s grace in preachers having freedom to proclaim the word and Christians publicly living out their faith. But there is a need for teachers who have been well-taught, who can refute false doctrine and faithfully preach Jesus even when it’s not what the ‘itching ears’ of 2 Timothy 4:3 want to hear.’
About ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos (JETS)
The ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos (usually called JETS) is wholly owned and operated by the Evangelical Church Winning All. In the early 1970s, ECWA saw the need to start a theological institution with the distinctive purpose of meeting the contextual needs of both the church and contemporary African society. The seminary began in 1980.
Crosslinks has been working recently in Nigeria through Rick and Alanna Creighton. Rick is a lecturer at JETS. From May 2021, Crosslinks has had 10 study partners on JETS’ MA Theological Studies course which has been pioneered by Rick.
