About Koffi
Koffi writes, ‘I was born into an idolatrous family. My father served false gods and regularly consulted soothsayers to ensure the protection and wellbeing of his family.’ After Koffi’s father died, Koffi met Ben Koublesso, an evangelist, who shared the gospel with him. Koffi’s particular memory is of hearing Romans 3:22-25 explained clearly, that ‘all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’ yet are justified freely by his grace through redemption that is found in Jesus Christ. Koffi heard and believed that he was a sinner in need of grace, and he confessed and was baptised in 2011.
Having lost his biological father at a young age, Koffi cites Ben Koublesso and Damigou Napoli as his spiritual fathers, who made a big impact on him. They walked alongside him, encouraged and challenged him and trained him in Bible-handling and ministry. Koffi writes, ‘I bless God for these two servants who helped me progress in my spiritual life. Glory to God the Father for his love for me!’
Koffi is currently a pastor in the Ministere International de Jesus church, but is seeking further training to consolidate his biblical knowledge for pastoral ministry and church planting. Upon completion of his studies at West Africa Advanced School of Theology, Koffi will continue to pastor and teach at the Biblical Institute in Lomé, alongside evangelism church planting ministry endeavours.
West Africa Advanced School of Theology
Founded in 1971, West Africa Advanced School of Theology (WAAST) exists to train African church leaders at a university level. Students train for God’s mission, learning about servanthood and Bible teaching. Graduates go on to pastor the many hundreds of churches in West Africa without trained leaders and to serve as leaders of their national or district church organisations, church planters, evangelists, as directors of and teachers in Bible institutes, as workers in compassion ministries, and as missionaries to people groups within their nations and in other lands.
WAAST serves more than 20 nations of West and Central Africa and the island of Madagascar. To make its programs more accessible in such a vast area, WAAST operates nine extension centers, from Dakar, Senegal, to Antananarivo, Madagascar. Today more than 1,800 WAAST graduates work in these African nations and in other countries around the world.
Studying this course will grow Koffi in his understanding of God, ministry and interpreting the word. This will stand Koffi in good stead for future pastoral ministry and evangelism.
