2019 – 2024

Innocent is a BEST study partner at South African Theological Seminary, Sandton. He is studying by distance learning from his home in Kigali.

Innocent grew up going to church but he never heard the gospel preached clearly. When he was in secondary school, Innocent was told the gospel for the first time. He then understood that being a Christian is based on faith in Jesus and he put his trust in Christ. For the next four years, Innocent continued to attend a church that didn’t preach from the Bible, so he struggled with a lack of assurance. At university, Innocent met Christians who could disciple him, open the Bible with him and encourage him to live for Christ.

In 2012, Innocent did a one-year expository preaching course. During this year, God convicted him of the huge need for more gospel-centred churches in Rwanda. In 2017, Innocent was able to plant Gospel Community Church in Kigali, along with a team of six others. The church aims to be a hub from which many other gospel-centred churches can be planted in the coming years. For this, more leaders will need to be trained. Innocent is studying for a Masters in Theology to enable him to train church leaders and planters in Rwanda.
