Derrick is a BEST study partner at George Whitefield College in Cape Town, South Africa.
Derrick is from Uganda and, as a child, attended various Pentecostal churches with his family. Derrick heard a confused gospel message that said that faith in Christ would result in prosperity and health. It was only when he was an adult that Derrick realised that he was not a Christian. He attended a bible study group and saw that the teaching he had believed growing up was not biblical. He committed himself to studying Scriptures and, by God’s grace, came to put his trust in Christ as his Lord and saviour.
Derrick has been involved with student campus work, taught at a bible college and written articles for the Gospel Coalition Africa. He writes, ‘Upon completion of my studies, I would like to continue serving in my church, teaching at bible colleges and engaging young people in schools and universities. I sincerely believe that this course will build my theological foundations so that I can serve better within and outside my community.’
