Adam Tomalin

BTh
George Whitefield College
2022 – 2024

Adam is studying the three-year Bachelor of Theology course at George Whitefield College (GWC) in Cape Town.

Adam was a short-term mission partner with Crosslinks between 2016 and 2021. After spending six months at Hope Church in Johannesburg in 2016, Adam returned in Spring 2018 to serve as a ministry trainee. (Hope Church is led by mission partners James and Lucy Buchanan and serves the many and diverse communities of the city.)

Adam was involved in areas of church life including music, youth work and student ministry. In 2019, Adam began as youth worker for Hope Church and at the end of 2021 he married South African Nomfundo.

Adam’s studies at GWC will give him a robust theological training so that he can continue in full-time ministry in South Africa. Longer-term, Adam hopes to work in families ministries, including training children’s and youth leaders for ministry in South Africa.

Recent Prayer Letters

Sanbonani nonke, this is a Zulu greeting which means hello everyone! For those of you who do not know, we have been working on becoming proficient in our Zulu language learning skills and visiting family in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) was the perfect opportunity to brush up on some Zulu! We can confidently report back that we still have a long way to go until we are proficient, but we are making progress!
The Tomalin family in South Africa send their love and greetings to you! It is our prayer that you are all well, and that God continues to draw near to you all. It fills us with immense joy to be sharing our recent news with you, as the last few months have been quite eventful for both of us. We had the privilege to visit Kwa-Zulu Natal for a week, during the George Whitefield College September break. This was a great opportunity to attend our first REACH SA Synod and we also had the chance to stay with family who reside in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Both Nomfundo and I hope you’re doing well? This update is being written whilst we’re in Joburg. Adam is on his mid-year break and Nomfundo is pressing on with her online studies in Christian Counselling, whilst also getting some rest. Adam has just come off the back of exam season and is grateful for the break and looking forward to what promises to be an exciting new semester at college. We’re incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to visit family and friends, whilst we’re in Joburg.
Both Nomfundo and I hope you’re doing well? We’ve been slow off the mark on getting this first update of the year to you all, but you can blame me (Adam) for that. This was originally meant to be our new year update, but I think this can still count so, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I think we can just get away with saying that. Only just.
