St. Paul's Divinity School was founded in 1903 by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in Freretown, Mombasa. The school moved to Limuru in 1930. The Divinity School changed its name to St. Paul's United Theological in 1955 when three Churches, namely, Anglican Church of Kenya, Presbyterian Church of East Africa and Methodist Church of Kenya, decided to form a partnership in Church ministerial training. The Reformed Church of East Africa joined the partnership in 1973 and the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) in 1995. The College now reflects the ecumenical experience of our time.

St. Paul's awards first degrees, Bachelor of Divinity, Bachelor of Business Administration, it also runs a Diploma of Theology Programme at various affiliated Colleges, including Berea and St. Andrew's, Kabare. Various Post-Graduate Programmes are being developed at the moment, including:

MTh by Research in conjunction with University of Aberdeen,

Master's in Christian Response to HIV/AIDS in conjunction with OCMS (Oxford Centre for Mission Studies)

Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations in conjunction with PROCMURA (Project for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa.

Crosslinks has had a long involvement with St. Paul's, sending Mission Partners to be on the Staff, including: Wilfred and Jessie Stott in the 1960s, Roger and Wendy Bowen, Alan and Ruth Byrom.  Crosslinks have also sponsored many students at the college.
