What can I do?

Within the SMILE Programme there are three types of placement available. These are Gap Teams, Summer Teams, and Individual Placements.

Gap Teams

Gap teams have around 8-10 team members, and two leaders. They last for four and a half months, from January to May. Ideal for someone who is keen to have a fun gap year, make good friends, serve God and other people in a meaningful way, and really grow in their relationship with God. A good opportunity for leaders to develop Bible teaching and discipleship skills.

Summer Teams

Summer teams are usually run in association with churches in the UK, though occasionally we run are teams to which anyone can apply. These typically last 2-4 weeks. A great starting point if you’ve never done any overseas mission work before, or if you want to strengthen your links with a mission partner who you support.

Individual Placements

Individual placements are tailor made to suit your skills, availability, and the current needs overseas. Spend anything from a month to two years serving God overseas. The perfect way to test the water if you’re wondering whether you should pursue long term overseas mission work, or to find something really useful to do in your gap year, university year abroad, long summer break or career break.
