The bible identifies prayer as an essential strand of gospel partnership and we have laid out some suggestions here to help you as you pray for God’s worldwide mission. These suggestions are particularly helpful for churches in partnership.
Suggestions on:
How to pray
- Pray for your mission partners in your regular church meeting and in your mid week prayer meeting
- Ask each small group within the church to pray for a specific mission partner
- Ask your youth group/Sunday School to pray for and be in touch with a specific mission partner
- Have a live phone link with your mission partner in a service or mid week prayer meeting
What to pray for
- Pray for opportunities for your mission partners to share the gospel with those they meet
- Pray for fruitful work that would bring glory to God and further His kingdom
- Pray that your mission partners will find the time to read the Word and to pray and that the Lord will use these times to refresh and to grow them
- Find out about the current situation in the country they are in and pray for them as Christians in that situation
- Pray for general health and safety and for times of rest
- Pray for the children of mission partners that they would grow up to know the Lord and would settle well into the situation they are in
- Pray for good friendships and fellowship
- Pray for them as they are away from family and friends
- Use the prayers in the Bible to pray for your mission partners
