Prayer Update July 2008
- Praise for a most fruitful 15-years of service that God has been able to bless through our time in Mpwapwa. Rachel has been appointed to be a Lay Canon of All Saints Cathedral, Mpwapwa (allowing Bishop Jacob to call on her for ongoing advice) and Godfrey was made an honorary Catechist (equivalent to a Lay Reader in the C of E).
- Pray for the transitional period at St Luke’s Health Centre following on from our departure in the run up to the return of Dr Lugwisha after the completion of his Assistant Medical Officer’s Course in October. A temporary administrator has been appointed to oversee day-to-day matters up till then and shortly thereafter a VSO Nurse from the UK will join the team for two years to help plug the gaps. An overall Visionary Director of Medicine is still needed.
- Pray for the continued discussions with the Tax authority, that St. Luke’s may be given a letter of exemption from the Commissioner quickly, before it is charged tax for which it should be exempt. The Commissioner in Dar es Salaam rejected the initial application for lack of evidence and wants the Regional Tax Officer to visit us and send a report. We await his visit..
- Give praise for a really positive time experienced during our final farewells from all those we are leaving to carry on taking God’s Word to God’s People in Mpwapwa – our passing on of the mantle means that they need our ongoing prayers and support all the more!
- Pray for the numerous staff who were made redundant in our going – pray that they will be able to cope in an economy that has little or no benefit system.
- Pray for us as a family as we readjust to life together in the UK. We will be having a good time of recuperation over the summer and then in the Autumn start our final Mission Education visits to our supporting Churches. We will continue working with Crosslinks until January ‘09. Pray for Esther and Christopher as they leave Dean Close Prep School and prepare to move on to new schools.
- Pray for Crosslinks Head Quarter Staff who are juggling finances to cope with an anticipated budget deficit this year.
As ever thank you for your ongoing prayers without which our Partnership and therefore yours in the Gospel in Mpwapwa would not have been possible.
Yours
Godfrey & Rachel Tarling
