Jamie and Helen Read

Since the end of apartheid in South Africa, the beacon of a new democratic society has raised expectations and created opportunities in a country all too familiar with division and oppression, poverty and illness. But as South Africa emerges from its troubled history and experiences globalization and the deterioration of moral standards, the church must sound the prophetic call that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour. Now more than ever, the church needs men and women who will both match and surpass the leaders of the ‘old struggle’ as servants of the word.
The Bible Institute Eastern Cape (BIEC) is a small but growing bible college (currently 45 full time students) labouring to equip leaders of gospel-centered churches in the Eastern Cape’s largest urban area of Port Elizabeth. Through the teaching at the main campus and the satellite training centers in outlying township areas, more people are growing in their love for Jesus and his word.
Jamie and Helen (with their boys, Angus and Conor) are serving at BIEC. Having been involved in student ministry in the UK and spent 4 years at theological college, they are committed to investing in the college’s vision to help train pastor-teachers.
Jamie will be lecturing in biblical studies and mission, ably supported by Helen who is also assisting BIEC through administrative support and student hospitality.
