June 2008 Prayer Update
We hope you are all doing well. We are doing great, though a bit tired from the recent ‘Passion’ concert which we were helping at, which was a fabulous time of praise and worship for students in Kampala. We were on the volunteer team and therefore on our feet most of Friday and Saturday, sleeping at 1am both days, but it was worth it to see 15,000 young people worshiping God for all their worth, as led by Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman.
Thanks as ever for praying for us
Gill and Carlos
Thanks for:
· The Passion concert was fantastic, and we thank God that the weather was perfect, the logistics worked out well, many students attended and there was a wonderful sense of God’s presence.
· Last month we asked for prayer for a team coming to Mbale to run HIV and AIDS training for communities, churches and at our Beersheba Project. The ‘Esteem Team’ had a fantastic time, sharing their information in a fun and creative way, and they received a great reception everywhere they went.
· This month 2 of our staff safely delivered baby girls so we praise God for that.
· Some of the girls at Bambejja recently went through the Alpha course during their school holidays. We thank God that this went well and many of the girls responded to the teaching in a significant way. We pray that they would understand more and more how to follow Christ with their whole lives.
Prayer for:
· Julius, our Net2Work Manager, has been in Pader working towards the set up of the eAcademy there. He’s had a difficult time sourcing people to make furniture but things seem to be moving along. Please pray that all would go smoothly as we prepare for the first students who will begin the IT training in September 2008.
· We have been undergoing an Audit for the past few months, which has been delayed for a few reasons. Now Barbara, our Finance Manager, is on maternity leave – she delivered the last bits of information needed to the Auditor at 4pm on Thursday, and her baby was born at 6am on Friday! -and we pray that the Audit would be completed soon and also that our finance department would continue to function well without Barbara.
· The next 2 months are extremely busy, with many visitors from UK and also a lot of work to be completed. Please pray for all the staff to be focused and energised.
· Gill had a huge funding proposal to complete last weekend which was a mammoth task – needing to work over the weekend, we were in shock when firstly Gill’s laptop just turned itself off and wouldn’t work at all, then the electricity went off for 16 hours!! She managed to get the work done but was left very drained physically and emotionally. Please pray for her to recover her strength and also for God’s favour for this proposal.
