April 2008 Prayer Update
Hello once more from a very unpredictable Uganda! From torrential rains (we had a washed out Easter where it rained from 10am until 6pm without respite, unheard of here!) to scorching sun (it’s easily 30+ degrees today) we have had a very busy month, with a welcome break of celebrating Easter with friends from church.
Thanks for praying,
Gill and Carlos
Thanks for:
Ø The Graduation of the Net2Work class in Gulu went extremely well, and it was a great day of celebrating the achievements of those who had successfully completed their certificate in IT.
Ø Maree, the new International Placement Coordinator, has arrived and settled in very well, and so far is doing an excellent job preparing for our next group of volunteers who are arriving in mid April.
Ø Isaac Makumbi, our Logistics Officer, was very critically ill when his body reacted to sulphur in medicine and his skin has burnt almost beyond recognition. Amazingly his internal organs were fine, and after a 10 day spell he is now out of hospital. We thank God for his recovery.
Prayer for:
Ø This month of April we are doing Annual Appraisals for all staff as well as making annual plans and beginning to work on budgets. There is a lot of work involved so we pray for God’s strength, wisdom and guidance.
Ø One of the girls in our Half Way, an orphan, has a brother who is registered in a street boys’ project, and there may be a possibility of both children moving to a new foster home together, as they have no living relatives suitable to take care of them. Please pray that the right family would be willing and able to open up their house to take care of these children.
Ø The girls in the Skills Training Project have gone on job apprenticeship placements after their classroom training. We pray that they would do well and learn new skills fast (they are placed in either a hair salon, restaurant or tailoring shop).
