March 2008 Prayer Update
This year is galloping past at such a quick rate! We have had a busy, challenging month but we are grateful to God for his provision and strength. We hope you are well and doing fine.
Thanks for praying,
Gill and Carlos
Thanks for:
The Oasis International Director, Andy Matheson, came to Uganda for a short visit and chaired a meeting of the Oasis Uganda board on 16th February. We have 5 Ugandans on our board, plus 3 people from UK, and it was an excellent meeting which really demonstrated the board’s interest in our work and ability to support and guide us in our decision-making.
The peace agreement in Kenya, which hopefully will bring an end to the trauma which has occurred in the past couple of months.
Carlos’ mum is now well after a successful operation, and we thank God for her recovery.
Prayer for:
On March 7th a group of us are traveling to Gulu, Northern Uganda, to attend the Graduation of the first group of students who have completed the Net2Work IT training course which has been running since September. These students have been war-affected, some of them having been child soldiers, and after a rehabilitation time are now ready to rejoin society. We pray that the Graduation would be a wonderful time of celebration, and that these pioneer students would find jobs in Gulu town.
Matt Hearn, our International Placement Coordinator, who oversees our short term teams and volunteers, is leaving Uganda after a 2 year term. He is to be replaced by Maree, who will be in Uganda for 9 months until December. Please pray for Matt, that God would guide him in his decision-making about what he should be back in UK, and for Maree, that she would settle in well and do a great job.
