Prayer Update June 2008
We have several things for praise this month.
- With some gifts from some Line Dancers and a dear Liverpool friend’s memorial, we have just enough money to finish paying for the Ng’ong’onha well. And the people are already enjoying wonderful fresh water being pumped up 140m by a windmill. It’s wonderful to see it. We praise God for the help of so many people wit this amazing project.
- A large grass fire on the edge of the runway this afternoon was quickly contained. Some of the precautions made after the last and closer fire 3 years ago worked well. (We have fuel stores next to the MAF hangar). There’s still more to do, but praise God that this time there was water available, two fire engines came and despite a strong wind, the fire was out within an hour. We just pray nobody suffers from the after effects of smoke inhalation, it was pretty thick out there, and we are coughing a lot at the moment!!
- Mum and Dad had a safe and successful house move and are getting settled in their new unit, which is within walking distance of the shops.
- Msalato Theological College has been struggling financially and the staff have been on half pay for several months. We are not out of the woods yet, but have received so much help and encouragement from many friends. The staff are actively looking for ways to cut our expenditure and find more long-term sponsorship so we can realistically continue running the college.
Which leads us to prayer for:
- Moses Matonya who has taken over as Principal. He has a huge task ahead, but we praise God for his wisdom and godly sense and for the way the staff are strongly behind him.
- We have a day of prayer and fasting for our college this Friday 6th June. Please pray with us that God will challenge us, encourage us and show us how to move forward faithfully with Him. I believe that Msalato continues to do a vital work in training and equipping men and women in this country for ministry and I am sure the evil one doesn’t like what we do and is having a good go at discouraging us right now.
- ZBZ – our once wrecked aeroplane is still being sprayed in Oklahoma, USA. We really need it back, our one caravan is not enough and we are turning customers away. Tim is waiting for news of when it will be ready and he can go to the States to check the repairs. He is also hoping to visit his folks en route, as the cheapest way to get to the US from here is through Heathrow or Europe. There are several health issues in his family right now, and he would love to see them. So he would really like some definite news. Please pray we hear something soon.
- Msalato Pre-diploma course and Pre-degree course graduate on 19th June. We have 2 more weeks of teaching to go. Pray that those God wants to come on the diploma and degree courses in August will pass the tests in the final week.
- Main college graduation is in 22nd June. Please pray for graduating students as they head out into ministry, some lay, some ordained, that God will guide and use them well, and they will feel Msalato has been an adequate preparation for their future ministry.
- Dr Valentino Mokiwa was enthroned as our new Archbishop here in Dodoma on 25th May. Dr Mokiwa is bishop of Dar es Salaam. Please pray for him in this new and challenging role that he will lead the Anglican Church with godly integrity and wisdom.
Thank you!! Bless you!!
